INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR JOB BOARD LINKS
|
| COLORADO-SPECIFIC JOB BOARDS |
http://www.denverdb.com/cojobs.asp
BIG list of Colorado and other job links as well as companies. |
http://www.nationjob.com/boulder
Boulder-specific jobs. Most of the jobs appear out of the IT mainstream but with so many
folks leaving IT, this might not be bad. |
http://www.allcoloradojobs.com
Links to local employers, employment agencies, job banks & career resources that serve Colorado. Have a good
listing of links to local resources all over the state. |
http://www.FreshBaked.com/jobs.htm
This is a very nice partial listing of Colorado-specific job resources. Worth a visit to update your link resources. |
http://denver.craigslist.org
This is the local version of the phenomenally successful Craig's list out of the West Coast. It lists all kinds of
useful things, including fresh jobs, apartments for rent, stuff for sale. It's a simple, elegant site that works. |
http://denver.computerjobs.com
This is actually pretty good. From computerjobs.com, this is a direct link to the Denver area jobs. |
http://www.justtechjobs.com
National scope actually, but is based in Boulder so perhaps has a better slice of Colorado jobs? What I really like
about this site is its simplicity of design. This site is focused on IT jobs and I know a lot of local recruiters use it.
Can you believe they trademarked the phrase "Nerds Wanted!" Unfortunately, they pull the old trick of not dating
the job listings, kind of making them less useful. |
http://www.careerscolorado.com
Careers Colorado - a for-profit site that recently acquired ColoradoComputerJobs.com. I don't know much about them yet.
But it looks like it's hard to determine if the jobs are contract positions or not. |
http://www.coloradojobs.com
This is kind of an all categories job site, but you can't have too many Colorado sites to explore. They seemed to load
fast and I saw a VB job on there when I looked. They don't date the jobs, tsk, tsk., which is often a red flag that agents
are behind the site, fishing for talent. |
http://www.theemploymentnews.com
On their site they list some Colorado-based jobs, but not many. You can post your resume too. They are the ones that put
jobs listings in the yellow newspaper boxes on the streets in Denver and other larger cities in Colorado. Their thrust is
all jobs, not just IT. |
| DECENT GENERAL JOB WEBSITES |
http://www.dice.com
One of my favorites because they don't play games with the listings. All the job info is easy to use. It's best to sign
up and have your type of jobs emailed to you each day. |
http://www.itmoonlighter.com
I'm not much of a fan of sites that have 58,000 IT people listed. But, I like the fact that this site caters to
Independent type of work so I list it here. I love the look of the site too. |
http://www.militaryhire.com
This is a job site from a recommendation. It's said to contain quite a large number of
IT jobs in Colorado. Obviously, it's directed at former military folks. |
http://www.net-temps.com
They had 67 internet, and 637 general IT jobs in Colorado, most of them mid-length contracts (our favorite right?). |
http://www.hireability.com
You can look up IT associates in your own state - no contact info without pay, however. They show their rates for headhunters seeking talent.
They partnered with kenda.com
- an IT recruitment shop - which I hope doesn't ruin them. They tout an xml-based searching
engine. |
http://www.sologig.com
Solo Gigs. Focused on the independendent. They asked me to list and they have a pretty good looking site. I haven't had
a chance to actually drill down and try them as I'm so tapped out with other tasks but let me know if this site works for
you. |
http://www.ework.com
Ework Exchange. One of several independent contractor-oriented websites. |
http://www.freeagent.com
Another pretty good independent contractor site. |
http://www.freelance.com
They disclose their rates and cover the entire world. They have a
group of talent reps. who work with you in your area. |
http://www.hotjobs.com
I usually start checking a job board by entering ASP AND COLORADO to see what comes up. This site actually had a decent
listing of jobs in Colorado, in my specialty area. |
http://www.blastmyresume.com
Blast your resume. Based in CA, they send out your resume to over 12,000 agents. This is the quick and maybe efficient
way to get your skills out there. Fee-based. |
http://www.fastcompany.com
A fast, rich site. Find jobs, companies, spark ideas, start up info, and lots more. |
http://www.elance.com
"Changing the way the world works" is their slogan. This is a site with a twist. You bid on projects against
others. Example: 'Coffee Shop Website'. Number of bids on this job when I looked at it is 94 with the average bid $614.00.
My goodness, this can't possibly work - can it? Can you say lottery? Have at it. |
http://www.guru.com
Another decent independent site. Claim 420,000 registered users. Is that good or bad for us? |
http://www.tjobs.com
Telecommute jobs for Writers, Programmers, Artists, etc. Links to additional sites to continue the search for that which
is so hard to find - a good paying, mid-term telecommute contract. Did it work? |
http://www.prgjobs.com
They claim over 6000 employers look for programmers. The problem is, are they looking for independents? |
http://www.flipdog.com
They claim to be the largest employment search engine. What do you think? |
http://www.careerjournal.com
A well done site that discusses career issues and lists jobs. Put up by the Wall Street Journal. Here is the blurb:
"Careerjournal.com is the Internet's premier site for executive, managerial and professionals jobs. Our database gives
you access to thousands of top positions, and we offer critical news, features and columnists updated every business
day." |
